Saul Bass and the reason why you should never be late for a movie

I can't stand being late when going to the movie theater. Not only do you miss the previews but you also miss the opening credits. Opening Credits? The opening credits may be an opportunity to see some kind of typographic-graphic design-musical score wizardry.

The late Saul Bass was pure sweetness when it came to opening titles.

Stanley Kubrick's Psycho:

Alfred Hithchcock's Vertigo:

Otto Preminger's Anatomy of a Murder:

Interview with Saul:

His most recent opening title was Martin Scorsese's Casino:

He also designed numerous movie posters.

His website is wonderful. I want a print. Read full bio at Design Museum.

His work reminds me of the Catch Me If You Can opening....designed by Kuntzel+Deygas
